US label and EU label: food labeling in comparison

Within the European Union, food labeling is clearly regulated. In the USA, too, it is – but different. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) have very different views on this than the European Food Safety Authority. How so? For example, when it comes to nutritional labeling. Or the font size of the mandatory information printed on the label. But also when it comes to the naming of allergens or colorants or the interpretation of claims of all kinds.
