Food labeling: EU versus USA

There are uniform EU-wide regulations on how food should be labelled in general and what minimum information must be included on the packaging. However, this regulation does not apply in the USA – here the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) decide what information and how this information must or may be included on the product packaging. And in fact, the US authorities sometimes have very different views on this than Brussels does.
