FDA Announces FY2027 FSMA User Fees for VQIP and TPP

FDA Releases FY2027 User Fee Information

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced the Fiscal Year 2027 user fee rates for two voluntary programs established under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA):

• Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP)
• Accredited Third-Party Certification Program (TPP)

According to FDA, the user fees allow the agency to administer these programs and support their continued operation during FY2027.

Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP)

VQIP is a voluntary, fee-based program for importers that achieve and maintain a high level of control over the safety and security of their supply chains.

FDA states that participating importers may receive expedited review and importation of human and animal foods into the United States as a benefit of the program.

Accredited Third-Party Certification Program (TPP)

The Accredited Third-Party Certification Program is another voluntary FSMA program.

Under the program, FDA recognizes accreditation bodies that may accredit third-party certification bodies. These certification bodies are authorized to conduct food safety audits and issue certifications for foreign food facilities.

Companies that currently participate in VQIP or organizations involved with the Accredited Third-Party Certification Program should review the FY2027 user fee announcements and consider the updated fee structure as part of their planning for the upcoming fiscal year.
